There’s so much to do at Montana Hill, you may have trouble fitting it all in — but that’s part of the fun. Whether you’re here for adventure, relaxation, or a little bit of both, you’ll find plenty of ways to enjoy real ranch life and the wide-open beauty of British Columbia.
What’s a ranch without horses? You won’t have that problem here.
At Montana Hill, there’s a horse for everyone — whether you’re brand new to riding or have years of experience. Our horses are well-trained ranch geldings, chosen specifically because they’re calm, dependable, and enjoyable to ride.
Never been on a horse before? Don’t worry — owner Al will take the time to show you the basics, so you feel comfortable and safe before you head out.
Already have your own horse? You’re welcome to bring it along. Montana Hill is one of the few guest ranches where guests can bring their own horse and enjoy riding in true Canadian ranch country.
Winter at the ranch is something special — peaceful, quiet, and unbelievably beautiful.
Guests can enjoy guided snowmobile tours through the backcountry, taking in the snowy landscapes and mountain views. If you prefer a slower pace, you can explore the property on snowshoes, or simply enjoy the stillness of winter ranch life.
And of course, after a day in the snow, nothing beats heading back to your private cabin to warm up, put your feet up, and relax.
With hundreds of acres to explore, Montana Hill is the perfect place to get outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
Whether you enjoy:
hiking
mountain biking
canoeing
snowshoeing
or a simple, leisurely walk
…you’ll find plenty of trails, open space, and beautiful views to enjoy.
Nature lovers feel right at home here.
If you love wildflowers, you’ll be in for a treat — the ranch is home to over 25 species of native wildflowers, making it a beautiful place for photography and peaceful walks.
Keep your eyes open and you may also spot local wildlife along the trails. Bird watchers will especially enjoy the variety of unique species, including:
sandhill cranes
pileated woodpeckers
hummingbirds
After a day out on the trails, there’s still plenty to enjoy back at the ranch.
Guests can unwind with classic ranch-style fun like:
horseshoes
billiards
axe throwing
archery
Whether you’re feeling competitive or just looking for something fun to do as a family, there’s always something waiting.
Montana Hill is a working ranch — which means there’s real ranch life happening every day.
Guests are welcome to try something truly unforgettable: milking a cow, then learning how to make fresh cheese from the very cow you just milked.
It’s one of our most unique experiences, and it’s especially loved by families and international guests who want an authentic Canadian ranch experience.
Of course, you don’t have to stay busy the whole time.
Some of the best moments at Montana Hill are the quiet ones — sitting back, listening to the birds, enjoying the views, and letting the pace of life slow down.
Want a cozy night in? Choose a movie from our collection of over 1,500 DVDs, pop some popcorn, and enjoy a relaxing movie night in the comfort and privacy of your own cabin.
Whether you spend your days riding horses, exploring trails, learning ranch skills, or simply soaking up the peace and quiet — Montana Hill is the kind of place where you can do as much or as little as you like.
Because the best ranch vacations aren’t rushed.
They’re remembered.
